    The former lawyer and friend of the late, estranged husband of a Connecticut mother who is missing and now presumed dead has pleaded guilty to interfering with police in the case. Kent Mawhinney had originally been charged with the more serious crime of conspiracy to commit murder. A court clerk in Stamford confirmed Mawhinney has been sentenced to serve 11 months. That equates to the time he has already served behind bars since his arrest.

    The first criminal trial related to the 2019 killing of Connecticut mother of five Jennifer Dulos is set to begin this week. Michelle Troconis is scheduled to go on trial Thursday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, evidence tampering and hindering prosecution. Troconis denies the allegations. Police believe Dulos' estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, killed her in her New Canaan home amid bitter divorce and child custody proceedings. Her body has never been found.
