The Cubs cruised to an easy win last night against the Marlins, using a big inning to provide all their scoring. It’s a good thing they were facing an inferior team because the offense seemed pretty lethargic outside of the outburst that included five of their eight hits. It helps that the Marlins did virtually nothing with their seven hits. There should be plenty of excitement tonight just because Moisés Ballesteros is making his MLB debut.

This will be quick because I’m at our baseball facility with terrible cell signal and most of this was covered earlier. Moisés Ballesteros has officially had his contract selected and is with the Cubs at Wrigley. Ian Happ has been placed on the 10-day IL retroactive to May 10 and Tyson Miller has been transferred to the 60-day IL after being struck by a 107 mph comebacker on Sunday.

Since hiring Tyler Zombro away from Tread Athletics to serve in the front office as a special assistant advising on everything from pitch grips to player acquisitions, the Cubs have added several Tread alums to the organization. The latest of those is 27-year-old righty Tommy Romero, whose signing with the Cubs was announced by Tread via Instagram.

As of this writing, only 14 players in MLB have hit 10 or more home runs. That group is comprised of players from 11 different teams, with only two squads fielding multiple representatives. Corbin Carroll (13) and Eugenio Suárez (12) form an unlikely power pair, but the Cubs have a trifect of 10-homer players in Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki, and Pete Crow-Armstrong. Lurking down-range is Dansby Swanson, whose nine homers tie him with Francisco Lindor for most by a shortstop.

Outside of the Oprah-esque 2015 season — You get a promotion! You get a promotion! — the Cubs haven’t historically been super aggressive when it comes to pushing young players up to Chicago. That trend has changed a little bit this season with Matt Shaw serving as the Opening Day third baseman and Cade Horton coming up to face the Mets. Now comes a slightly more surprising advancement, as Moisés Ballesteros is coming up to the bigs.

When I met Miguel a while back, I was in awe of his voice. I could listen to that dude read the phone book.

Loudest Wrigley Field crowd ovation for 7th inning stretch this year? Yes, that would be for @Miguelsvoice.

He upgraded his changeup in a big way last year, generating 6-7" more depth and making it his best pitch by far. The fastball has never been a calling card, but running it up there at 99 could change that. Cubs face him tonight.

Ryan Weathers in his 3rd (and final?) minor league rehab start: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K (57 pitches/40 strikes) Fastball up to 99 mph 🔥 https://t.co/6HDjwc1yAI

Justin Turner delivering the walk-off. Love him in a reduced situational role.
