Tonje is the first Badger to be selected since Johnny Davis in 2022. Former Wisconsin guard John Tonje was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 53rd overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Leading the Badgers to 27 wins, Tonje averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. He shot 46.5 percent from the floor, including 38.8 percent from 3-point range. Tonje had six 30-point games, including a career-high 41 in a win over Arizona on Nov. 15.

The four-star wide receiver chose UW over offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Miami (FL), Florida State, Penn State, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Missouri, and many more. In addition to the Badgeers, Petit also took official visitgs with Oklahoma, Missouri, and North Carolina.
