During the school year, students in Mrs. Karen Crawford’s Life Skills class at Redbank Valley High School spend an afternoon once a month volunteering at the library. During that time, the students do a great job helping with various tasks to keep the library looking clean, organized and welcoming. Before getting into all of the wonderful things happening at the Redbank Valley Public Library, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Evanne Gareis, and I am the new director. As a lifelong resident of the Redbank Valley community, I’m looking forward to strengthening existing relationships and forging new ones as we move forward in this next chapter of the library’s story.

EAST BRADY – Chiropractic services are now available close to home for people in the East Brady area. Phillips Family Chiropractic of Butler recently opened a satellite office inside All Fit All Around Fitness, located along Robinson Street in East Brady. “When the opportunity was presented to us, we decided that it would be great to offer services up here in East Brady,” said Dr. Warren Carr, who along with Dr. Ryan Denny, is now seeing patients two days a week at the fitness center.

Dance studio finds a rhythm in East Brady

EAST BRADY – A local teenager’s passion for dance has recently manifested into the opening of a new dance studio in East Brady. Haylee Hogan, a junior at Karns City High School, is now offering instruction for young dancers of all skill levels at her new studio, Spotlight Dance Academy, located in Room No. 3 of the East Brady Community Center. “I have always loved dance, and it’s something I love sharing with other people,” Haylee said recently of why she wanted to open her own studio.
East Brady finalizes budget; holds taxes

EAST BRADY – Just two weeks after authorizing its advertisement, East Brady Borough officials Tuesday night passed the 2025 final budget and tax rates, which includes a shift in some of the borough’s current tax rates in the upcoming year. At their Nov. 19 meeting, the four council members in attendance unanimously approved Ordinance 2024-01 which sets the tax rates for 2025, and Ordinance 2024-02 which sets the budget for next year.
Tax increase anticipated for Clarion County

CLARION – For the first time in more than a decade, Clarion County residents should expect a tax increase in the coming year. At their Nov. 12 meeting, Commissioners Wayne Brosius, Ted Tharan and Braxton White unanimously approved the county’s preliminary spending plan for 2025 which includes a 2-mill real estate tax increase, marking the county’s first tax hike since 2012. “It’s been tough; costs have just been increasing so much,” Brosius said of the need for the tax increase.

Veterans take part in annual pheasant hunt

PORTER TWP. – Veterans Day came early for more than 300 veterans last week as the North Central Pennsylvania Pheasants Forever Chapter 630 hosted its eighth annual Veterans Hunt in Clarion County. “This is the largest pheasant hunt put on by Pheasants Forever in the state,” said U.S. Navy veteran and volunteer Leon Blashock of the three-day event, which was held Nov. 6-8 at Delp’s Hunting Grounds in Porter Township, near New Bethlehem. “The hunt is hard to beat.
