MARSHALL, Ill. (WTHI) - A number of farms were damaged or destroyed across Clark County as storms ripped through the region Wednesday evening, including a hog farm. Welsh Swine Productions' facility northeast of Marshall, Ill., took a direct hit. No people were injured, but buildings are a total loss and will have to be rebuilt. Crews have been working to clear debris and move the pigs to a different location.

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Emergency workers responded to reports of damage across New Goshen Wednesday night. There were reports of damage to houses, as well as downed trees and power lines. The Vigo County Sheriff's Office is asking people to stay away from the New Goshen area. First responders are in the area assisting residents and assessing storm damage. Officials say the area is not safe.

WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - As drought conditions redevelop across the Wabash Valley, several local counties are issuing burn bans due to elevated fire danger. Dry vegetation and low humidity combined with days with breezy conditions can make open fires quickly get out of control. Most of these burn bans prohibit outdoor burning, but campfires or other recreational fires are allowed as long as they're contained in a ring.

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Another local county has banned most outdoor fires due to dry weather. Daviess County Commissioners declared a burn ban on Tuesday. It will remain in effect until further notice. The ban prohibits open burning, including burning brush, vegetation and construction materials. Campfires and other recreational fires are allowed if they're contained in a fire ring or pit.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHI) - Eating fried and sugary food at fairs is a summertime pastime all across the Midwest, and it's no exception in Indiana. At the Indiana State Fair, you can do that with a twist. The fair has unveiled its list of 43 "deliciously wacky" food and beverage creations that make up its 2024 Taste of the Fair contest. Some of the savory highlights include a spicy pickle pizza, peanut butter and jelly chicken wings, Chili Cheese Frito corn in a cup and a bison smash burger taco.
