Although Ronald “Toby” Pierce was born Thanksgiving Day of 1937 in Wahpeton, that didn’t stop him from making fun of anyone and anything from North Dakota, for the remainder of his life. And though he often visited cousins in Wisconsin, if you were from there that also required a smart crack on his part. Iowa, same deal. That’s right, he spent over 70 years of his life in God’s country, and you would be a fool to argue it. Wadena was the best community anywhere, and that’s who Toby was.
