GENESEE COUNTY, MI - The Village of Gaines traces its roots to the golden age of railroads, when the Detroit and Milwaukee Railway laid tracks from Detroit to Grand Haven between 1855 and 1858. In 1856, Gaines Station was established as both a rail stop and post office, quickly becoming a vital link for the movement of people, mail and goods. Just a few years later, in 1859, Henry Walker platted the town, designing its streets to run parallel with the tracks.

FLINT, MI - Flint Community Schools is taking significant steps to rebuild and revitalize education in the city with plans to redevelop the historic Flint Central High School campus. The district announced a $750,000 planning grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation to begin designing a new high school at the vacant site located at 601 Crapo St. Flint Central High School closed in 2009 and has since suffered vandalism and multiple fires.

IMLAY CITY, MI - We Are One Youth is inviting local families to participate in a free soccer camp this summer aimed at building skills, confidence, and community among young athletes. The camp will be held from July 14 to July 16 at the Imlay City AYSO Fields. It runs each day from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open to students entering first through sixth grade. We Are One Youth is a religious organization led by Gateway Assembly Church in Imlay City.
