The spring bouquets and vases brimming with roses that George’s Flowers is selling for Mother’s Day 2025 will be the last from the longtime Madison business. George’s Flowers, a colorful presence at 421 S. Park St. for 41 years, will close its doors for good at 2 p.m. on May 10, after holding special holiday hours the day before Mother’s Day. The floral shop was opened in 1984 by George Choles and his wife Nia. Choles died last year on Oct. 4, one day after his 100th birthday.

Car windows were shattered and several buildings sustained damage Friday morning as a fast-moving storm swept through southern Wisconsin. Residents of Evansville and nearby areas posted pictures on social media of 2-inch balls of hail and broken car windows after the storm moved through around 7:30 a.m.A tree and power line were also blown down in the storm, said Erin Roth, supervisor in the Rock County 911 communications center.
