Homeless encampment cleanup continues in Red Bluff

RED BLUFF— In their recent cleanups of homeless encampments, the Red Bluff Fire and Police Departments, along with the Tehama County Probation Department, are averaging 14 to 16 40-yard dumpsters worth of trash being pulled out and hauled to the landfill. Fire Chief Michael Bachmyer recently shared this figure at the Tuesday night city council meeting. He believed this was week three of the cleanup of the encampments at Forward Park. RBFD’s goal is to be there every Tuesday and Thursday.
Tehama County unemployment decreases in April

RED BLUFF— Tehama County’s unemployment rate in April was 6.2 percent, a decrease from March’s 6.7 percent. According to preliminary numbers released by the California Employment Development Department on May 16, Tehama County ranked 37th among the other California counties. In March, it ranked 35th. The county ranked 37th with 7 percent unemployment at the start of the year.

RED BLUFF – Fire personnel with the Mendocino National Forest’s Grindstone Ranger District are planning an interagency prescribed burn at the Red Bluff Recreation Area on May 29, pending favorable weather conditions and available resources. Firefighters will attempt up to 400 acres of understory burning. The location of the recreation area is south of Hwy 36 and east of I-5 and within the Red Bluff city limits.

RED BLUFF— Due to the absence of City Attorney Sophia Meyer, any potential reprimands for Red Bluff Councilman Cody Strock will have to wait until later. City Manager Tom Westbrook disclosed that Meyer suffered a serious family emergency Tuesday morning that required her time and attention. As a result, Meyer was unable to attend Tuesday’s Red Bluff City Council meeting in person or virtually.
