CHICO — Taller and wider, with room to breathe, the new Butte County Public Health Clinic in Meriam Park has been a welcome addition for nurses helping patients with disease screening, low-cost vaccines, travel planning and family planning. Located on 1930 Notre Dame Blvd, the clinic opened March 17 and has four exam rooms — double the amount at the previous 695 Oleander Ave. location — with more room and updated equipment for compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act.

In one last heat wave of May, the north state is forecast to reach near record high temperatures Friday and Saturday with a 55-95% chance of hitting 100 degrees and warm nights to boot. CHICO — A Chico family may now spend their Memorial Day with one less weight on their shoulders. The family of the late Gregory Ponci, who died in 2023 from cancer attributed to toxic exposure during his military deployment, had their mortgage fulfilled by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Gold Star Family Home Program, the nonprofit announced Thursday in observance of Memorial Day.

OROVILLE — The Butte Countywide Homeless Continuum of Care released its biannual census of people experiencing homelessness, the 2025 Point-in-time count. The report is the result of the effort of 175 volunteers, who conducted surveys in shelters, under bridges, in parks and on sidewalks the night of Jan. 29, 2025 in Butte County. The 2025 Point in Time Count report shows 1,392 people counted on Jan.

The Glenn County Office of Education announced three school districts will receive a total of $10.9 million to “support the county’s commitment,” to the California Community School Framework, according to a news release Monday. The state awarded $2,969,000 to Hamilton Unified School District, $4,987,500 to Orland Joint Unified School District and $2,969,000 to Willows Unified School District to fund the creation of school plans that follow the state framework.
