    A MAN has been charged in relation to an attack on the Belfast Islamic Centre, in which a window was broken and a viable device thrown inside while people were in the building. A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene following the incident on University Road at around 10pm in Friday. The building was evacuated, while Ammunition Technical Officers removed the device for forensic examination.

    IRISH recycling company Turmec has landed a £15m contract with Glasgow City Council to design and build a state-of-the-art robotic Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). The new site will use cutting-edge technology and feature advanced automation, including robotic sorters and AI-driven optical sorting technology. Geoff Bailey, CEO of the Co. Meath company, said the award of the contract 'marks a significant milestone in Turmec's ambitions to be the go-to supplier in the MRF market'.

    TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man sustained serious injuries in a suspected machete attack in Co. Down. The incident happened in the Tipperary Lane area of Newcastle on Saturday afternoon. The suspects made off from the scene but were detained shortly afterwards in the Bunkers Hill area of nearby Castlewellan.

    TÁNAISTE Simon Harris has warned of a 'spiral of escalation' following US attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. Speaking last night, US President Donald Trump said American strikes had 'completely and totally obliterated' the sites at Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan. Iran's Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, has called the attacks a 'grave and unprecedented violation' of international law and called on the UN Security Council to 'unequivocally condemn this criminal act of aggression by the United States'.

    A TEENAGE boy has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in the River Nanny in Co. Meath. He has been named locally as Kofi Owusu, 15, from Dundalk, Co. Louth. In a statement, Kofi's school paid tribute to him and described the incident as 'a terrible tragedy'. It is believed the teenager and some friends had travelled to Laytown on Friday to enjoy the water on the hottest day of the year.
