Shamrock Rovers 4 Cork City 1 Shamrock Rovers proved far too strong for Cork City on Monday night in Tallaght Stadium, easing to a 4-1 win in front of their home crowd. With goals from Aaron Greene, former City defender Josh Honohan, Roberto Lopes and Jack Byrne, Rovers underlined the gulf in depth and quality between the sides, with Darragh Crowley scoring a late consolation. It was a routine win for Rovers, and City could have few complaints. They were second best across the pitch.

St Patrick’s Athletic ran out winners over Cork City at Turner’s Cross in front of an attendance of 3,815, with first-half goals from Chris Forrester and Brandon Kavanagh doing the damage on a frustrating night for the home side. The game was an even contest but Pat's produced two moments of real quality which was the difference between the sides. City made one enforced change to their starting 11, as Freddie Anderson came in to replace Ruairí Keating.

There’s always a buzz around Turner’s Cross on a Friday night, but there’s no denying that the mood has dimmed somewhat in recent weeks as Cork City’s lengthy injury list continues to pile up. As the Rebel Army prepares to welcome St Patrick’s Athletic to Leeside this weekend, the stakes are already rising.

Cork City make the long journey north to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium tonight, where they will take on a Derry City side struggling to find their rhythm in the early weeks of the League of Ireland Premier Division season. Tim Clancy’s side head into this clash on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Drogheda United, a game in which they were second-best for long spells and were fortunate to escape with a point.

Cork City manager Tim Clancy did not mince his words when reflecting on his side’s underwhelming performance in their 1-1 draw with league leaders Drogheda United at Turner's Cross. Clearly frustrated, Clancy admitted that his team was well below the standard expected, describing it as their poorest display of the season. He highlighted a lack of composure from start to finish and credited Drogheda for their aggressive pressing and effective use of direct play.

I’ve seen some bad decisions in my life but John Mahon’s saving the ball and getting away with it has to be up there.

Great to be back watching PD games. Shipston and Couto’s delivery from set-pieces and open play is incredible. Bolger immense. Keating and Maguire doing what strikers are suppose to do.

Brilliant win for Cork City after coming from behind to beat Bohs at a packed Turner's Cross. https://t.co/RPGlEHPYdx
