Cork City boss Ger Nash pulled no punches following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Bohemians at Turner’s Cross. He acknowledged the damage was done during a poor opening half-hour that ultimately condemned City to another home loss. Nash admitted that his side simply didn’t start well enough and struggled to wrestle back control from a dominant Bohemians side who took full advantage. “The game was won in the first half. I think we started slowly.

In front of a crowd of 3,215 at Turner’s Cross, Cork City slipped to the bottom of the Premier Division table following a frustrating defeat to Bohemians. The visitors were the better side throughout, controlling the tempo and creating the more dangerous chances, while City once again struggled to impose themselves for long periods. Despite a few second-half moments where Ger Nash’s side threatened a response, the outcome rarely looked in doubt.

Cork City return to action this week following the mid-season break, hosting Bohemians at Turner’s Cross in what can only be described as a must-win fixture. The break offered a pause for reflection, but with the season now at the halfway point and City still mired near the foot of the table, that reflection needs to quickly turn into results. Before the break, City once again surrendered a lead — this time against Shelbourne — to draw 1-1 at home. It was a familiar story for Ger Nash’s side.

Cork City return to Turner’s Cross this Friday night for a pivotal Premier Division encounter against Shelbourne, with the Rebel Army desperately seeking a result to keep their survival hopes alive ahead of the mid-season break. Reflecting on last week’s 2-1 defeat to Galway United, it’s difficult to draw definitive conclusions, given that new manager Ger Nash had only a few days to work with the squad. Nonetheless, there were glimpses of his intent to make City more resilient and harder to beat.

New Cork City boss Ger Nash didn’t hide his frustration after his side’s 2-1 defeat to Galway United on Friday night, describing the result as a bitter pill to swallow — particularly for the fans who have become all too familiar with late heartbreak this season. "It was incredibly tough to take. It was even tougher for our fans because they have seen it before.

Obviously not good for Cork City but Warren Davis is a wonderful talent. Drogheda will do well to keep hold of him this summer.

I’ve seen some bad decisions in my life but John Mahon’s saving the ball and getting away with it has to be up there.

Great to be back watching PD games. Shipston and Couto’s delivery from set-pieces and open play is incredible. Bolger immense. Keating and Maguire doing what strikers are suppose to do.

Brilliant win for Cork City after coming from behind to beat Bohs at a packed Turner's Cross. https://t.co/RPGlEHPYdx
