In front of a crowd of 2,736 at Turner’s Cross, Cork City produced a spirited second-half performance but ultimately came up short against a clinical Derry City side. After being second-best in the opening 45 minutes, Tim Clancy’s men roared into life after the break and looked the more likely side to win the game after Djenairo Daniels levelled. However, a header from Kevin Holt sealed all three points for the visitors.

Cork City return to Turner’s Cross looking to bounce back from the heartbreak of Monday’s 3-2 defeat away to Drogheda United — a result that stung not just because of the last-minute nature of the loss, but because the side had fought so hard to take something from the game. Djenairo Daniels’ 85th-minute equaliser looked to have rescued a deserved point, only for a stoppage-time penalty to undo all their work and leave them empty-handed.

Djenairo Daniels looked to have rescued a valuable point for Cork City on Monday night at Sullivan & Lambe Park with a late equaliser, but heartbreak followed in stoppage time as City slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Drogheda United. Ryan Brennan converted a 94th-minute penalty after City goalkeeper Tein Troost brought down Thomas Oluwa, denying Tim Clancy’s side what would have been a hard-earned and morale-boosting point on the road.

Cork City manager Tim Clancy was full of praise for his side’s second-half performance after they earned a deserved 1-1 draw against Shamrock Rovers at Turner’s Cross. Clancy acknowledged Rovers' dominance in possession but was proud of his team’s discipline, energy and effort to chase a result rather than settle for the draw after equalising.

Cork City earned a hard-fought and deserved point at Turner’s Cross in front of a crowd of 3,619 — a crowd that included Roy Keane and ex-international teammate Andy Reid. Although City were second-best for large spells of the first half, they improved significantly after the break, stepping up their press and showing far more composure and intent on the ball. That shift in performance saw them grow into the game and ultimately rescue a draw through a well-taken Freddie Anderson goal.

Obviously not good for Cork City but Warren Davis is a wonderful talent. Drogheda will do well to keep hold of him this summer.

I’ve seen some bad decisions in my life but John Mahon’s saving the ball and getting away with it has to be up there.

Great to be back watching PD games. Shipston and Couto’s delivery from set-pieces and open play is incredible. Bolger immense. Keating and Maguire doing what strikers are suppose to do.

Brilliant win for Cork City after coming from behind to beat Bohs at a packed Turner's Cross. https://t.co/RPGlEHPYdx
