    Being a weather forecaster is a challenging job. Every day, people will know whether you are good at making meteorological predictions. Recently, in the UK, the bulk of the nation was given a ‘weather warning’ by the Met Office, saying there would be thunderstorms and flooding from north to south. As it turned out, the severe weather was largely restricted to a few small areas. The rest of the country wondered why they had been warned about poor weather as they sweltered in the summer heat.

    If you were the Prime Minister, I doubt you would choose to make the most important announcement of your year standing in the pouring rain getting drenched. Whatever your political leanings, I suspect you reckon that Rishi Sunak looked a complete drip when he announced the UK would go to the polls on 4th July. Inevitably, his colleagues have leapt to his defence saying he could not control the weather and that it shows he is a man determined to carry on whatever the circumstance. Nice try.

    Millions of people did not wake up for work in early May because Apple failed to make the alarm on their iPhones work correctly. This is not good news for the company, which reported a record fall in sales this week for the past year. I am fond of telling people that, one day, Apple will cease to exist. Nothing lasts forever. Eventually, this company will be consigned to history. It is inevitable. I am also delighted to tell all those iPhone fanatics that this day may come sooner than they think.
