    CUMBERLAND — Registration is underway for the 2025 DelFest Academy, with scholarships available for five qualifying applicants through a local foundation. DelFest, which features some of the best in bluegrass and Americana music, is held annually on Memorial Day Weekend at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.     CUMBERLAND — A trio of downtown businessmen believe the renovation of the downtown mall will usher in a new chapter in Cumberland’s story. Garrett Eagan and Chris Hendershot, the owners of CG Enterprises, and Zach Hattenfield, the company CFO, invested early in the downtown, long before the current $17 million renovation project got underway. They are the owners of the McMullen Building, 138 Baltimore St., purchased in 2020, and The Rosenbaum, 118 Baltimore St., acquired in summer 2022.

    CUMBERLAND — The $17 million renovation of Cumberland’s downtown mall has attracted several entrepreneurs who decided to invest in the vision of a renewed and vibrant community. Local businessman Fred J. Timbrook and his wife Kristin are an example, with their acquisition of two centrally-located commercial buildings: at 71 and 81 Baltimore St.“As far as being an investor downtown, I’m excited by what it looks like,” Fred Timbrook, who is the CEO of Timbrook Automotive, said.

    CUMBERLAND — Incumbent Crystal Bender and newcomer Max Green placed first and second, respectively, in the race for the Allegany County Board of Education in unofficial results from Tuesday’s general election. The race featured two open seats on the five-member board with four candidates running. The unofficial totals in the nonpartisan contest, with all 30 precincts reporting, had Bender with 13,545 votes followed by Green with 12,149.
