Danny Mei Lan Malin, the face of Rate My Takeaway, was one the stars at the Broadway Bradford’s Christmas light switch-on, but that wasn’t the only success he saw this year. The Barnsley-born star got married and welcomed a baby girl this year, all while touring the UK reviewing food places.

Vincent Briggs takes on mammoth challenge to raise funds (Image: UGC) A BRADFORD man is taking on a mammoth challenge to help raise funds for a cause close to his heart. Vincent Briggs is taking part in a series of cold water swims to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK in a challenge he has aptly named the ‘12 Shakes of Christmas’. Inspired by his dad Jeffrey Briggs, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2022, Vincent is taking part in 12 cold water swims across Yorkshire.

Bradford man given six month driving ban (Image: Newsquest) A MAN has been handed a six-month driving ban after he was caught speeding. Justin Richard Bissett, 37, of Plumpton Drive, Wrose, was driving on Bolton Road, between the junction with Lister Lane and the junction of Wapping Road, on January 31 this year. He was caught driving at 37mph in a 30mph zone.

A BRADFORD woman has been working hard over the last 16 years to support people from diverse backgrounds with their mental health. Maryam Riaz, from the Little Horton area of the city, has always been passionate about counselling and therapy and has become the only female person of colour locally to open their own clinic and offer support to people from diverse backgrounds. Through her work, she has helped tackle the stigma and taboo attached to mental illnesses in South Asian communities.
