Any correction officers still striking are expected to face disciplinary action beginning on Sunday, according to a statement from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). A NYSCOPBA spokesperson confirmed Monday morning that corrections officers are refusing to enter the prisons because of working conditions. The union says they took this stance on their own and it was not sanctioned by union leaders. State law prohibits strikes by public employees.

The Collins Correctional Facility has been locked down since around 1 a.m. Wednesday following an incident, according to state Department of Corrections officials.
