Published 5:00 pm Sunday, May 11, 2025 Seagulls called overhead as waves crashed into the shore. It was a grey and overcast morning as my mom and I walked the beaches of Anna Maria Island in Florida. We walked side by side and talked as we soaked in the scenery. My mom loves the beach, it is her happy place. She walks every morning of vacation to see the sun rise and goes to see the sun sink into the water in the evening. I enjoy our walks more and more as I get older.

Published 8:00 am Wednesday, April 30, 2025 The news of Mississippi State firing Chris Lemonis was not a surprise to me. I had expected it was coming given several years of frustrating baseball and a woeful 42-69 record in SEC play since the national championship. Lemonis gave Mississippi State a special season when they won the national championship in 2021. Aside from my wedding day, it was the happiest day of my life.

NEW SIGHT — A woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a small tree Monday morning. Her condition is unknown but she was able to walk to the ambulance under her own power.

Published 1:36 pm Monday, April 21, 2025 BROOKHAVEN — The Lincoln County Volunteer Fire Association elected a new president in a regularly scheduled association meeting Thursday night. Outgoing president Jonathan Alford had to resign from his second year in the position due to a new job with the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Alford submitted an official notice of resignation two weeks prior to the meeting.
