MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Over two months after the walkway at a Medical District apartment building collapsed, residents are still displaced, and the walkway is still not fixed. Those residents are demanding answers and help as they struggle with housing. Memories flowed on Wednesday for Kenitha Smith, just one of the several residents displaced. “It’s a lot of memories. I was over here for 11 years. Honestly, I do miss it,” she said.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Millions of dollars were on the line in several areas within the City of Memphis, but the nearly $900 million budget passed Tuesday night. Budget discussions were underway for fiscal year 2026, and it was a very heated meeting. Tensions were high, and one person was escorted out after several outbursts during the meeting. Money to fund the city’s public transportation and fund raises for city employees was all discussed.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Dozens of people joined together to celebrate the life of Tyre Nichols for what would have been his 32nd birthday. The family of Nichols and activists said they are still working towards justice even after the acquittal of 3 former Memphis Police officers in the state criminal trial, where the officers were charged in the death of Tyre Nichols. They stood outside the burned Clayborn Temple and I Am A Man Plaza. It was the center of several rallies and protests in Memphis.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Cuts to Memphis’ public transportation system are on the line. Budget talks for the City of Memphis are underway, and a large item on the chopping block is the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA). Over $15 million was proposed to be held from MATA by a few city council members. Memphis City Councilwoman Jerri Green, along with Councilman Phillip Spinosa, introduced an amendment to the proposed budget. It included cuts in several areas, including MATA.
