Oxnard police arrested a Marina West Elementary School staffer on June 4 on suspicion of sending harmful material to a minor and communicating with a minor with the intent to commit sexual assault. The Oxnard Police Department said in a June 6 statement that sexual assault detectives investigated information that the man, a 24-year-old Oxnard resident, had been accused of contacting a minor inappropriately and sending lewd text messages.

Moorpark’s next city manager is from the ranks of its own city staff.Assistant City Manager PJ Gagajena will take over the city’s top job on June 28 after City Manager Troy Brown retires, the city announced in a May 27 statement.Gagajena, who joined Moorpark's staff in 2020, said he's excited to keep working with the council. He will lead a city hall of 102 employees with an annual budget of $81 million. PJ Gagajena will take over as Moorpark City Manager on June 28.

A man in his early 20s was found stabbed late on the night of May 22 in the Thousand Oaks area, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said. Sheriff's Capt. Tyler Abbott said dispatchers received a call at 11:30 p.m. about several people fighting near the 1600 block of Calle Diamonte. The address is north of Highway 101 and west of Ventu Park Road. Abbott said deputies went to the scene and found a man with stab wounds. He was transported to nearby Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment.
