260 Sample Sale Chicago is temporarily closing their doors in Chicago to relocate to a new spot in the city, the company announced Wednesday. 260 Sample Sale hosts weekly sales on designer brands, typically offering discounts between 70 to 90 percent off. They opened their Chicago location in June 2023 and have stores in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Miami. Sales at the River North location, 51 E. Ohio St., often drew lines that stretched down the block.
Man shot on Blue Line during second shooting in CTA train car in 5 days

A man is in the hospital after he was shot inside a CTA Blue Line train car near the Racine station Sunday night, according to police. Around 9:14 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot at the CTA Blue Line and found a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right thigh. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was initially listed in good condition, police said. There was no one in custody Monday and Area Three Detectives are investigating.

Several vehicles were damaged early Wednesday morning when a handful of garages caught fire in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, authorities said. Just after 3 a.m., firefighters responded to the 2000 block of North Fremont and began to extinguish fires in five to six garages, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The fires were out by 4 a.m. and nobody was injured or displaced, the fire department said. The Chicago Fire Department is investigating.

A 19-year-old is in police custody after a three-vehicle crash sent an SUV into the side of a building in Chicago Wednesday morning. According to Chicago police, the crash occurred just after 1 a.m. in the city's Gresham neighborhood when a white SUV ran a red light on the 2000 block of West 79th Street, striking a blue sedan in the intersection. The blue sedan then struck a black SUV, and the white SUV slammed into a brick commercial building, police said.

A man was fatally shot by a McHenry County Sheriff’s deputy during a SWAT standoff in Crystal Lake that spanned more than four hours Thursday, authorities said, with roads still closed as of early Friday morning. About 4:30 p.m. Thursday, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Briarwood Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake. Upon arriving on scene, deputies made contact with a man who was armed with a gun, officials said.
