LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln City Council unanimously approved the settlement over a crash involving local police at Monday night’s meeting. In total, the city council awarded $780,000 to Jarod and Jamie Velte for injuries and mental distress sustained after a crash involving a Lincoln Police Department vehicle. According to court documents, the crash occurred on Feb. 26, 2022, near 66th Street and Pine Lake Road.

GREENWOOD, Neb. (KOLN) - One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate-80 near Greenwood Sunday morning. According to Greenwood Fire Chief Mark Sobota, first responders were called to mile marker 419 and mile marker 420 near Greenwood on the report of a van vs. semi truck crash. When personnel arrived, both the van and the truck were in the center median. According to the fire department, the driver of the van was declared dead at the scene.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln man who works as a custodian at Waverly High School is accused of stealing items from a student’s locker and reselling them. According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, a Waverly High School student realized they were missing their track shoes, along with a number of other items, from their school locker. The student’s parents went to a Lincoln resale store, Play it Again Sports, and bought a pair of shoes for an upcoming event.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Two people were injured after a crash near Beaver Creek Lane and Pine Lake Road on Saturday at 9:27 a.m.According to Lincoln Police, a driver was travelling northbound on Beaver Creek Lane, when they prepared to turn west onto Pine Lake Road. As they were turning, they were struck by an eastbound vehicle, which reportedly ignored a red traffic light. LPD said the driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 17-year-old male juvenile, was cited for violating a traffic signal.
