    MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula City Council is laying out next steps for a controversial and once-failed effort to demolish Fort Missoula's Old Post Hospital. Council’s Land Use and Planning Committee set July 14 as the date they will hear an appeal after the Historic Preservation Commission denied a demolition permit in March. FAE Missoula Hospital LLC wrote commission members “were determined to find any excuse they could to deny the demolition application,” in its appeal letter.

The University of Montana has owned the residence at 1325 Gerald Avenue since 1974. However, in about a month, the home will officially be changing hands as a public bidding process begins. The Board of Regents approved putting the property up for sale in March 2022.
