The request – made after the non-profit that runs the store claims it spent tens of thousands of dollars to remodel its current space – was rejected and means the Fretail store will leave the mall in March. Mall officials had remained silent about why they made their ask of the Fretail store until today.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled against East Lansing in a tax case that could cost the city millions – money city officials would have to refund to taxpayers. The case stems from a decision back in 2016 by the city of East Lansing to charge a “franchise fee” to residents who used the Lansing Board of Water and Light to help make up for a budget shortfall. The fee, which the Supreme Court decision brings in $1.4 million a year, started in the summer of 2017.

A mid-Michigan man accused of sex crimes has lost two jobs. Mark Silberstein was the administrator at the Shaarey Zedek synagogue in East Lansing and a producer at WLNS-TV. He is no longer employed by either organization. It follows the news that Eaton County prosecutors charged Silberstein with three felonies, including attempted 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct, after authorities accused him of trying to meet an underage teen for sex.
