WLAJ is a television station affiliated with ABC, serving the Central Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and is based in Lansing. It transmits a high-definition digital signal on UHF channel 25, which appears as virtual channel 53.1 on compatible devices. The station's transmitter is located on Baseline Road near the Berryville area of Rives Township, close to the Jackson and Ingham County border. Gretchen Whitmer has asked for more time from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to submit the state’s request for a major disaster declaration following a severe ice storm that struck last month. The ice storm knocked out power and communications across Michigan’s upper and lower peninsulas.
