WLAJ is a television station affiliated with ABC, serving the Central Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and is based in Lansing. It transmits a high-definition digital signal on UHF channel 25, which appears as virtual channel 53.1 on compatible devices. The station's transmitter is located on Baseline Road near the Berryville area of Rives Township, close to the Jackson and Ingham County border. WLAJ is owned by Shield Media, but it operates under joint sales and shared services agreements with Media General, making it a sister station to CBS affiliate WLNS-TV. Both stations share their facilities on East Saginaw Street/BL I-69/M-43, situated in the Eastside neighborhood of Lansing, near U.S. 127. LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Demolition efforts have begun at the Walter Neller Building in downtown Lansing, which is being torn down after receiving a red-tag designation in October 2016. In a video posted to Facebook Wednesday afternoon, heavy machinery can be seen demolishing a portion of the building. Last December, the Lansing City Council ordered the property owners, the Granger Group, to either make the property, located at 122 S. Grand Avenue, safe or demolish it in 60 days.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety is investigating a shooting after a 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. The department says officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Peacock Walk in Blackman Township at approximately 1:28 a.m. Wednesday morning for reports of a shooting. Officers arrived to find the boy with a gunshot wound to the head. He was unresponsive but still breathing.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — IONETIX Corporation, which specializes in the production of radiopharmaceuticals used for diagnostic imaging and cancer treatment, plans to invest $25,750,000 in Greater Lansing. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MDEC) reports this new investment will create 53 new jobs, with a starting wage of $25 per hour plus benefits. The investment has received support from the MEDC via its Michigan Business Development Program with a performance-based grant of $750,000.
