MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Only two days into the Atlantic hurricane season and area of weak tropical development is possible off the coast of the Carolinas. An area of low pressure is forecast to develop off the Southeastern US coast over the next few days and then lift northeast. As the low pressure passes over very warm waters, it will have a low risk of taking on some tropical characteristics. The National Hurricane Center is giving the system a 10% chance of development over the next 5 days.
