    MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - People tend to underestimate how powerful tropical storms and hurricanes can be. These tropical systems can bring storm surge, inland flooding, high winds, rip currents, rough surf, and tornadoes. Looking back at the data of U.S tropical related death dating back from 1963 to 2012. Nearly half of the deaths have come from storm surge at 49%, followed by inland flooding at 27%, high winds at 8%, rip currents and rough surf at 6% and tornadoes at 3%.

    MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - We’re not done with the storm chances just yet. Tracking scattered storms this afternoonWe’ve been tracking this clusters of storm coming out from the Low Country. They’ll bring heavy rain, gusty winds up to 40-50 mph, and an occasional rumbles of thunder. Given the rain this morning, we do expect a weaker line of storms later today. Higher level clouds will keep us mostly cloudy with the chance of a few showers and storms around.
