Olympic gymnastics is a pretty big deal. Now that Birmingham is a finalist for the Gymnastics Olympic trials, area facilities are showing support for the bid. The Trussville Academy of Gymnastics is one of the gyms that wrote a letter of support for the Magic City. Lauren Stanton is the director of gymnastics at TAG. She says a sporting agency reached out to them in hopes of garnering support for Birmingham.

The Bessemer Board of Education members are still going through training sessions for the next few months . Instead of a normal board meeting, the appointed chief administrative officer, Dr. Daniel Boyd, held a community meeting to let people know what's happening in the district. Tuesday evening, Boyd said, there are multiple capital projects happening right now; including a new roof for one of the schools.

THESE PROGRAMS. TONIGHT, SOME ALABAMA PARENTS ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND CHILDCARE, AND IT’S LIKELY CAUSING THEM TO ALTER THEIR PLANS TO PROVIDE. ACCORDING TO THE MOST RECENT DATA FROM THE ORGANIZATION, VOICES FOR ALABAMA’S CHILDREN, OVER 19% OF PARENTS HAD TO MISS WORK DUE TO NOT HAVING CHILDCARE IN 2021. THAT NUMBER WAS THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE FOR MUCH OF THE SOUTHEAST, BUT RIGHT NOW, THERE ARE PLANS IN BIRMINGHAM THAT COULD HELP CLOSE THAT GAP.

Hoover residents need to be aware of a water outage planned for Thursday night, according to the Birmingham Water Works.BWW officials say the outage will allow BWW crews to replace two valves and a 10-foot section of eight-inch water main. The project is part of BWW’s capital infrastructure improvement plan. Work is expected to be completed and water service restored by 7 a.m. Friday, June 6. The outage will impact approximately 370 service connections (water meters).
