As the Sky search for hidden gems that can develop into contributors, they’re adding undrafted shooting guards Sammie Puisis and Tilly Boler on training camp contracts. Both are strong long-range shooters. Puisis, 24, finished her collegiate career at South Florida after transferring from Florida State. She is 6-foot-1 and played 150 games in college. Last season, for USF, she averaged 15.2 points and shot a career-high 39.8% from three-point range.

The Sky, like most of the WNBA, are in a strange position as they await the deluge of players who will hit free agency after this season. Those teams will face off in a primetime matchup on CBS on Aug. 9 in Indianapolis. The clear appeal in that matchup is the ongoing rivalry between Sky star Angel Reese and the Fever’s returning Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams bounded into the media room at Halas Hall on Tuesday with renewed enthusiasm as he began working with new coach Ben Johnson. Williams and the Bears reported Monday for the voluntary offseason program, and Williams said Johnson popped in the quarterbacks’ room Tuesday morning to quiz them on concepts he covered the day before. “Already first day in and they’re challenging us,” Williams said with a smile.
