DALLAS — For years, Makayla Thomas prayed for a baby. “I struggled with fertility for a while,” the North Texas woman told WFAA. In February, she and her husband Joe got their wish. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh I’m finally pregnant!’ We’ve been together for 11 years.”  Thomas started documenting milestones on her journey to motherhood, photographing and videotaping her pregnancy tests, sonograms, hospital visits and more.

DALLAS — The man accused of fatally shooting a Dallas police officer and wounding two others Thursday night has been identified as a 30-year-old former truck driver whose social media accounts were recently filled with unhinged, apocalyptic and pseudo-religious rants. The suspect, Corey Cobb, lived in a guest house behind his parent's home on Hortense Avenue in southern Dallas, north of Ledbetter Drive and east of South Marsalis Avenue, his father Emery Cobb said.

DALLAS — An appeals court has dismissed a disciplinary case against Dallas attorney Sidney Powell in connection with her legal work for former President Donald Trump seeking to overturn the 2020 election. The decision, issued Wednesday by a three-judge panel in Dallas, cites clerical errors in legal filings by lawyers for the State Bar of Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline in its case against Powell, who has denied wrongdoing.

DALLAS — The federal criminal trial for Dr. Raynaldo Ortiz, the Dallas anesthesiologist accused of tampering with IV bags, finished its first week Friday. Testimony resumes at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Jurors have Monday off because a prosecution witness is unavailable that day. Prosecutors told U.S. District Judge David Godbey they expect to rest their case next week, and defense attorneys said they might finish their portion of the case by late next week.
