    Kenston High School junior Brynn Kahle has devoted significant effort to earning the Girl Scouts’ highest achievement — the Gold Award. This prestigious honor recognizes leadership, service and a lasting commitment to addressing community challenges. Brynn’s Gold Award project entailed the complex coordination of transporting eight retired racing greyhound dogs from Australia to Ohio, where they’re now awaiting adoption at a designated facility in Geauga County.

    When then 11-year-old Doug Marsh first took the wheel of a go-kart in Geauga County back in 1979, he had no idea that decades later he’d be inspiring a new generation of young drivers to follow in his tracks. Marsh, of Chardon, is now president of Championship Kart Racing Association, a not-for-profit organization that oversees the operation of Thompson Kart Raceway in Thompson Township.

    Hospice of the Western Reserve volunteer Danny Pugliese was recently honored as one of seven individuals by ServeOhio, Ohio’s commission dedicated to service and volunteerism. Since 2019, Pugliese, 76, has used his passion for music to bring comfort to dozens of veterans and hospice patients by performing at Veteran Recognition Ceremonies and hospice events.
