In order to stay physically active, the young DeVries duo could either make walks a part of their daily routine, or they could start playing tennis on a regular basis.

Central Kitsap softball player Savvy Paulson and Klahowya baseball player Carson Langguth are the Kitsap Sun athletes of the week for March 31-April 5, selected by readers in an online poll. Athletes are nominated by their respective coaches and the top vote-getters for both girls and boys sports are declared the winners. Paulson helped the Cougars win three games by going 7-for-10 at the plate with nine RBI.

Athletes are nominated by their respective coaches. The poll will appear online each Wednesday and votes will be tallied through Friday at noon. The top male and female vote-getters will be declared spring athletes of the week.

Four seniors headed for college athletics have helped Eagles to 8-0 start. There's no shortage of storylines swirling around Klahowya's baseball program this spring. Performance-wise, the Eagles entered Friday's road game against Bremerton with an 8-0 overall mark and 3-0 record in Nisqually League play. Class 1A state champions two years ago, Klahowya is eager to rebound from a 2024 season that saw the team ousted in district tournament play.
