Bremerton senior Isaiah Cadengo is trying to go where few sprinters have gone before — at least when it comes to West Sound track and field athletes. The Portland State University commit kicked off the postseason at the Olympic League championships at North Mason by winning four titles, including sweeping top honors in the boys 100-, 200- and 400-meter races.

It appears Bainbridge's boys soccer team will have to share the Olympic League 2A title with North Kitsap after all. League athletic directors voted this week to declare Bainbridge's 4-3 thrilling overtime triumph over North Kitsap on May 1 a forfeit win for the Vikings after Bainbridge used an ineligible player during the game in Poulsbo. North Kitsap athletic director Billy Rodgers and boys soccer coach Greg St. Peter confirmed the forfeit decision Wednesday afternoon.

There's roughly a week left in the regular season for Olympic League softball teams and the playoff picture still remains somewhat of a mystery. Who's the best team? Well, that's still an unknown at this point. There's three teams that can still earn at least a share of the league championship. All three rank in the top 10 in the state's Class 2A Rating Percentage Index (RPI) and could be contenders for trophies at the Class 2A state tournament.

North Mason softball player Sydnnie Imlay and Bainbridge boys soccer player Magnus Hauge are the Kitsap Sun athletes of the week for April 21-26, selected by readers in an online poll. Athletes are nominated by their respective coaches, and the top vote-getters for both girls and boys sports are declared the winners. Imlay helped the Bulldogs win two of three games by hitting .364 with two doubles and two home runs. She collected 762 votes.
