Two people were arrested early Saturday morning after crashing a vehicle while fleeing police and drugs were found in the vehicle, McFarland police reported. At about 2:25 a.m., a McFarland officer attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on Voges Road. The vehicle initially pulled over to the side of the road but shortly after made an illegal U-turn and fled from the officer, Interim Chief Brian Redman said in a statement. A pursuit began as the vehicle headed north on Highway 51 out of McFarland.

A driver faces an OWI after hitting a pedestrian on Sunday, Madison police reported. The incident happened about 5 p.m. in the Central Police District, but the City Wide Notable Calls daily report didn’t provide a more defined location or any details on how the crash happened. The 24-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that hit the pedestrian was found to be impaired and was arrested for OWI, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and cited for numerous traffic violations.

Madison police said they are investigating multiple reports of gunshots on the Southwest Side on Friday night. The shots were reported about 11:35 p.m. in the area of South Gammon Road and Park Ridge Drive, according to the City Wide Notable Calls daily report. No shell casings, property damage, or blood was found, but video footage showed a female slumping until a vehicle picked her up. The log cautions that the information is “early and preliminary” and can change as the investigation unfolds.
