CHICO — Bidwell Park’s Artist in Residence and local installation artist Eve Werner led a small group of people on an erosion line hike in Upper Bidwell Park last week to show the damaging effects of erosion. Werner is part of a volunteer effort through Partners, Ambassadors, Leaders and Stewards, also known as PALS, which is a city group comprised of community members who volunteer to demonstrate the effects. It began in November.

A fire caused “significant damage” at Snow Man Ramen restaurant on Nord Avenue early Monday morning, Chico Fire Department Battalion Chief Wes Metroka said. Metroka said a person passing by called 911 to report the fire at 6:12 a.m. The fire started in the kitchen in the counter top areas and was confined to the kitchen. Firefighters managed to contain the fire within 10 minutes. “There was significant damage with some smoke and soot,” Metroka said. No one was hurt in the fire.
