    WIMBERLEY, Texas — A Central Texas couple is making sure service workers in Wimberley have a safety net when times get tough. Jay and Jen Bachman, who run the Wimberley Café, have established the Service Industry Relief Fund to provide direct financial support to service industry employees facing unexpected hardship.   The initiative launched last month and is open to restaurant, hospitality and other frontline workers who live and/or work in the Wimberley area.

    AUSTIN, Texas — Around 2,000 athletes from around the world filled Downtown Austin's streets and waters on Monday for the 25th annual CapTex Triathlon. It’s a Memorial Day tradition that organizers say kicks off the summer in style. The event, first held in 1991, has grown into a major draw for amateur and elite triathletes alike. Last year’s race attracted more than 2,000 participants from 34 states and 11 countries, according to organizers.

The city’s Emergency Management department said Kyle's Community Lockbox Program allows qualified residents to have a secure lockbox installed near the front of their home that will allow first responders to have faster, easier access during critical moments.

    KYLE, Texas — As drought conditions persist across Central Texas, the city of Kyle is rolling out a new incentive program to help residents conserve water and cut down on utility bills. The "Native Landscaping Pilot Rebate Program" encourages homeowners to replace traditional turf lawns with native, drought-resistant plants. “In the summertime, here in Central Texas, about 60% of a home's entire water use is used for lawn irrigation,” said Jessica Wright, Kyle's water conservation coordinator.
