PINE VALLEY, Utah (KUTV) — The Forsyth Fire has expanded significantly to an estimated 5,660 acres as of Sunday afternoon. The incident management team determined acreage after conducting a flight earlier in the day to map the fire’s footprint more accurately. Deputies working the fire said the fire remains remains at 0%. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, firefighting resources are limited, and crews are working with what’s available.

A strong reinforcing cold front has swept through the state overnight, bringing a period of gusty northwest winds andmuch colder air. A cooler day in place across the state, should help firefighters with the fire in Pine Valley. After a cooler than normal day Sunday with the St. George area staying below 90 degrees today, a gradual warmup takes place through the next week until it's back to HOT by the end of the work week and beyond.
