PETOSKEY — The Bay View Association has delayed the opening of its 150th Jubilee season as cleanup continues following historic and destructive ice storms that battered the region on March 29-30. Bay View officials said the two-week delay and temporary closure of Bay View Woods to the public is due to extensive storm damage and ongoing safety concerns after heavy ice and high winds significantly damaged trees and infrastructure across the Bay View campus.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN — In a Monday, April 14 update, Great Lakes Energy (GLE) and Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-Op (PIE&G) reported they have restored power to nearly all of their members who lost power during the destructive March 29-30 ice storms. GLE reported that 98% of its members now have power, while PIE&G reported that 88% of its members have had service restored.

PELLSTON — The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin a 10.2-mile resurfacing project on U.S. 31 through Oden and Pellston on Tuesday, April 15. The $4.3 million project will include pedestrian accessibility improvements and concrete curb and gutter replacements along the route, which is from Graham Road to Blumke Road through Oden and from Milton Road to Douglas Lake Road in Pellston.

GAYLORD — The Michigan Department of Transportation will resume decorative lighting and streetscape work on the I-75 business loop (South Otsego Avenue) in Gaylord starting on Monday, April 14. The work will take place from Wisconsin Avenue and Grandview Boulevard to the south I-75 interchange at Exit 279. The work includes new plantings, watering and cultivating, along with decorative lighting installation.
