SPRINGVALE TWP. — An Emmet County man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the January shooting death of 34-year-old Joshua VanAllen. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 11, when the Emmet County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious death in Springvale Township. Based on initial investigations, they found that VanAllen had entered the home of an acquaintance, which led to a struggle and then the fatal shooting.
