The Spokane County Over-all Economic Development Planning committee chose a new water system for the “arid area west of Spokane.”The proposed system would deliver water to the towns of Cheney and Medical Lake, and would eventually serve the Four Lakes community and Airway Heights.

From 1975: A Spokesman-Review front -page photo showed a crane installing the barrel-shaped roof on the University of Idaho’s football stadium. “Some 36 arches will enclose the facility, allowing it to be used for other purposes, such as concerts and student activities,” said the caption. “Last arch is to be in place June 13.”The facility was built as an outdoor stadium in 1971, but it was being converted into an indoor stadium, allowing it to be used for basketball and many other events.

From 1975: The high temperature in Spokane was 84 degrees, but that didn’t prevent skiers from making their final run down Mount Spokane. The Snowblaze ski area opened its chairlifts in the afternoon “so skiers could take their last pop.”The high temperatures were also causing rivers to rise. The turbulent Spokane River had claimed two lives over the weekend, when two men were thrown out of a rubber raft near Mirabeau Park in Spokane Valley.
