FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) An Indiana State Trooper patrolling I-469 handed out a ticket Thursday for a driver who was doing more than double the 55 mph speed limit in a construction zone on I-469 in Allen County. The Fort Wayne Post of the Indiana State Police (ISP) made a Facebook post regarding the traffic stop that indicated the driver was clocked doing 132 mph. The post didn't indicate what kind of vehicle the person was driving or that person's identity.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A teen who pleaded guilty in March to voluntary manslaughter for stabbing his father to death received a 30-year prison sentence Friday. Ahmed Al-Malahi pleaded guilty in exchange for a murder charge to be dropped. According to court documents, in February of 2023, Al-Malahi hid inside the One Stop Store on Creighton Avenue in Fort Wayne, which was owned by his father.

BEIJING (AP) — China announced countermeasures by raising tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125% starting Saturday. The U.S. and China have escalated a new trade war by raising tariffs even as U.S. President Donald Trump hit a pause on tariffs for other countries. China notably had said it would fight the American tariffs with its own countermeasures, calling Trump’s actions “economic bullying,” which led Trump to retaliate by continuously hiking up tariffs this week.

Leno has two shows scheduled for Friday, April 25 at the Blue Gate Theatre. The first show is at 4 p.m. and the second show is at 8 p.m. Tickets are already on sale and range in price from $59.95 to $129.95. Luminos, a five-member modern a capella group based in Northern Indiana will open for both shows. The group formed in 2018 from students at Bethel University.

This follows a single case the department confirmed on Monday bringing the overall total in the county to six. Garrett Keyser Butler Community Schools also posted to their Facebook page Wednesday that the Indiana Health Department notified the district they had been exposed to a case of measles.

VAN WERT COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire in Van Wert County, Ohio Wednesday morning where two people were reportedly hurt. First responders got a call of a possible house fire at 4958 Lare Road in Tully Township at 10:22 a.m. according to a press release from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office. When crews arrived they found a working fire on the second floor of the home.
