BARROWS — Last lap moves by Tom Anderson and Baylen Rooker led to feature wins on an exciting sixth night of racing Saturday, May 31, at North Central Speedway. Anderson secured his second straight win in the Hobby Stock Class. Rooker, the 2024 Sport Compact points champion, notched his second win of the season. Anderson started from the sixth spot in the 11-car feature event. Michael Nelson and Andrew Malinowski were on the front row and Nelson was in the top spot after the first lap.

BARROWS— Dustin Holtquist and Mark Johnson won convincingly and Tim Johnson made an early appearance and captured two feature wins Saturday, April 26, as North Central Speedway opened its racing season. Johnson owns more than 900 career wins, but spring is not his specialty. However, both his Stock Car and Super Super Stock were in mid-season form.

BRAINERD — Jaiquavious Ackey returned to the Central Lakes College Raiders lineup and scored a game-high 26 points to go with 11 rebounds during an 88-82 Northern Divison victory over the Rainy River Voyageurs Saturday, Jan. 18. The Raiders handed Rainy River its first conference loss, while they recorded their fifth straight win and moved to 4-0 in division play and 11-8 overall. CLC head coach Jim Russell sees a team, laden with sophomores, finding its roles.

BRAINERD — Lauren Castle and the Brainerd Warriors provided numerous highlights at the Ninth Annual Dave & Connie Maras Holiday Invite Saturday, Dec. 14. Castle wowed the crowd with a personal-best 9.5 vault for third place. Castle finished in the top 10 on the beam and on the floor routine on her way to third in the all-around. “We got a new rule book so coming into the season we didn’t know where scores were going to fall,” Warrior head coach Jessica Lofrano-Larson said.

BARROWS — Two veteran drivers made it back to the winners stand for the first time in over a decade and two drivers walked away with two trophies at the Might Axe Nationals Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31, at North Central Speedway. Brandon Backstrom won the final race of the points season Aug 24 and he claimed two axes with wins in the Sports Compact class.
