BELLEVILLE, NJ — The Belleville High School baseball team defeated Bloomfield, 2-0, at home on Wednesday, April 16, behind junior Sean Walsh, who threw a shutout with 11 strikeouts. After losing at Newark Academy, 8-1, on Saturday, April 19, in Newark, the Buccaneers defeated St. Benedict’s, 4-3, on Monday, April 21, in Newark to improve to a 4-6 record on the season. Senior Rafael Matos pitched four innings for the win. He also hit a solo home run.

Profeta Field in Maplewood, to improve to a 2-2 record on the season. Senior Margaret McManus had four goals, senior Evie Campbell had three goals and one assist, and sophomore Amelia Burroughs had three goals in the 16-7 win over Morristown Beard on Wednesday, April 9. Junior Anabel MacGuire had two goals and two assists.

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Glen Ridge High School baseball team defeated Barringer and Newark East Side to improve to 2-3 on the season. The Riders defeated Barringer, 5-4, on Wednesday, April 9. Freshman DJ De La Fuente went 2-for-3 with two singles and sophomore Fletcher Wiley drove in two runs for the Ridgers. Sophomore Jackson Sushnick also had a single and an RBI. De LaFuente was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out four over five innings.
