    DOWNTOWN — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a violin worth $10,000 that was stolen from a Blue Line train in the Loop. Around 9 p.m. Friday, the violin was stolen from a passenger on a Blue Line train at the Clark and Lake station, police said in a community alert. The violin was inside a black storage case when it was stolen. The instrument does not have a serial number since it was custom made, but it does have a distinct wood-grain finish on the back, police said.

    ROGERS PARK — Five people were wounded in two separate shootings since Saturday evening in Rogers Park and Edgewater, police said. The shootings took place near the Howard Red Line station and outside a Devon Avenue hookah lounge that has had previous issues with violence, according to police and media reports. The hookah lounge is on the south side of Devon Avenue, which forms the border of Edgewater and Rogers Park. At 2 a.m. Sunday, two men were shot outside Samah Hookah Lounge, 1219 W.

    LINCOLN SQUARE — A 29-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in a likely domestic violence attack Saturday in Lincoln Square, according to police and the local alderman. Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a call for service and found the woman inside an apartment in the 2700 block of West Balmoral Avenue suffering from a stab wound to her torso, police said. The woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

    RIVER WEST — A portion of Milwaukee Avenue will close to through traffic starting Monday, with the street set to get a series of commuter-friendly upgrades. Milwaukee Avenue between Kinzie Street and Chicago Avenue will partially close starting Monday for a construction project that should last about six weeks, the Chicago Department of Transportation announced.

    Share CHICAGO — Thunderstorms set to hit the city Sunday will give way to more severe weather and tumultuous temperature changes this week, according to the National Weather Service. “Strong to severe” thunderstorms are forecast to blanket Chicago Sunday afternoon, potentially bringing damaging winds greater than 60 miles per hour and small hail to the area. The storm will be worse south of Chicago and in Northwest Indiana, the weather service’s forecast indicates.
