Crews from South Metro Fire Rescue were called out to a house fire in Douglas County overnight. When they arrived they saw large sparks and bright flashes coming from an electrical box at the home. It happened on Thursday night on the 11000 block of Puma Lane near Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch. South Metro Fire officials said the electrical breaker box had pulled away from the house and was causing arcing and a small fire. The fire was contained to the electrical box.

A small plane that was attempting an emergency landing earlier this month in a Denver-area neighborhood clipped a tree and slid hundreds of feet down a road before it struck a car and burst into flames. That's according to the National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report about the crash in Arvada that killed one person and injured three others. The report indicates there were no signs of preimpact failures before the plane went down.

The fire — located near Twin Lakes and about 20 miles south of Leadville — was first reported early on Tuesday afternoon and it sent a large plume of smoke up into the blue sky.

A wildfire in Colorado's high country has burned more than 200 acres, and some residents who live near it in Lake County have been asked to evacuate. The fire located near Twin Lakes and about 15 miles south of Leadville was first reported early on Tuesday afternoon.  Some pre-evacuation orders that were put in place after the fire started have been lifted, but other evacuation orders remain in effect.
