GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- The murder trial of ex-Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr ended with a deadlocked jury -- no conviction, no acquittal. And so far, it’s unclear if Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker will retry the case. Community leaders described the outcome as frustrating for a city that sought closure, but didn’t get it. It was a police killing that brought unsolicited national attention to Grand Rapids and spurred protests from those claiming police brutality.
