The Oregon girls soccer team won the WIAA Division 2 state championship in June and gave Bobby Nichols a rousing send-off prior to his stepping down as the Panthers’ coach. Oregon has named a new girls soccer coach — an individual who’s extremely familiar with the soccer programs at the school. Oregon boys soccer coach Chris Mitchell was selected as girls soccer coach, Panthers athletic director Brittany Spencer Grant said.

The Dodgeland football team moves from the Eastern Suburban Conference to the Trailways Conference this season. The Trojans will face talented competition, but senior running back and outside linebacker Zander DeZarn said he believes the conference shift will provide Dodgeland with “a fresh start” after last year’s team finished 1-8, including 0-7 in the Eastern Suburban.

The WIAA sports season for the 2024-25 school year has begun and it will feature the return to a familiar venue for one state tournament. As expected, the 2025 WIAA boys state golf tournament will be played at University Ridge golf course June 9 and 10.
