There may be a silent assassin creeping around your yard and you don’t even know it. The invasive – and toxic – hammerhead worm has been spotted in Newmarket Ont, according to a local horticultural association. These worms aren’t native to the province, and it’s believed they came to North America in some plants shipped from Southeast Asia. This species can grow up to three feet long and can be a hazard to small animals and pet wandering the property this Spring.

Police in Collingwood charged two people in connection to a truck theft over the weekend. On Sunday around 2 p.m., Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a motor vehicle theft in a Collingwood parking lot. Officials say a black Dodge Ram 1500 was left unlocked with the keys inside. Additional items were reportedly stolen from the dodge including a pre-paid credit card, a debit card, and the victim’s driver’s license.

Spring is here and with it brings sunshine and blue skies. As the temperatures edged up to mild highs over the weekend, many across the region did not face disappoint, especially one large and fuzzy resident in Sprucedale. Bennie, a North American black bear who has been calling a local centre home for nearly 11 years, spent his weekend admiring the sunshine and warm earth. “Bennie appreciates the disappearance of snow,” the rehab centre shared on social media, Sunday.
