    UNION TOWNSHIP — A Winfield man who called a 12-year-old girl his girlfriend is facing multiple assault charges for touching the pre-teen multiple times and trying to kiss her, according to state police in Milton. Justin Donald Herbster, 42, of Route 304, Winfield, was charged with four felonies: three counts of indecent assault of a child under 13 and one count of corruption of minors; and four misdemeanors: three counts of indecent assault and one count of invasion of privacy.

    MIFFLINBURG — A Mifflinburg man took $4,500 worth of lumber without paying from two people in West Buffalo Township, according to state police in Milton. Franklin W. Roup, 43, of Shinbone Road, Mifflinburg, was charged with two felony counts of theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception; and a summary count of driving without a license. The charges were filed by State Trooper Brett Harvey, of the Milton State Police Barracks, in the Mifflinburg office of District Judge Jeffrey Mensch.

    LEWISBURG — A Lewisburg woman attacked a juvenile girl by pushing and strangling her on Tuesday morning in Lewisburg, according to Buffalo Valley Regional Police. Julie Ann Hauck, 52, of Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, was charged with a felony count of strangulation, a misdemeanor count of simple assault; and a summary count of harassment. The charges were filed by Buffalo Valley Regional Police Patrolman Thomas Snyder in the Lewisburg office of District Judge Jeffrey Rowe.

    MIFFLINBURG — Elementary and intermediate students at Mifflinburg Area School District are learning fiber art during the month of April. The Perry County Council of the Arts (PCCA) and Mifflinburg Area School District collaborated with artist residency featuring fiber artist Gail Jones who has been working with art teachers Tom Seay and Kaitlyn Carey to lead a quilt project for students in the elementary and intermediate schools.
