MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (PIX11) – Severe storms have left residents cleaning up the debris across the tri-state area on Friday. Showers, thunderstorms and damaging winds were all expected on Thursday, according to PIX11 meteorologists. There was also a chance of hail. In New Jersey, NJ Transit’s North Jersey Coast Line rail service is suspended in both directions during the morning commute because of downed trees and wires on the tracks near Middletown.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The man accused of setting police cruisers on fire in a Brooklyn parking lot was previously arrested twice at protests, according to the NYPD. Police said Jakhi Lodgson-McCray, 21, is also wanted for a criminal mischief incident at Columbia University back in September. The New Jersey resident is accused of disguising himself as a student at a pro-Palestinian protest and causing $1,000 in damage to a statue on campus, according to authorities.

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – The suspect in the road rage killing of a Navy veteran in the Bronx is set to make his first court appearance on Tuesday. Police said Michael Aracena, 20, is accused of shooting 27-year-old Keino Campbell in the chest three times near Givan and Palmer avenues on Saturday around 2 a.m.Campbell and Aracena were allegedly drag racing when they collided after one tried to cut off the other, sources told PIX11 News.

BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (PIX11) – At least eight police cruisers were set on fire inside a locked parking lot that belongs to the 83rd Precinct in Brooklyn on Thursday, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened near Central and DeKalb Avenues around 1:30 a.m. The eight damaged vehicles included strategic response cars and police vans, according to the NYPD.
