STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A worker was struck and killed by a box truck at a Staten Island Amazon warehouse on Wednesday, according to the NYPD. Officers responded to a call for a pedestrian hit at 566 Gulf Ave. just before 11 p.m., police said. A 40-year-old driver was reversing a truck when a 34-year-old worker, who was standing in a blind spot, was hit, according to authorities. Police said the worker died.

NEW YORK (PIX11) – ICE is allowed to open an office inside New York City’s biggest jail, according to an executive order signed by Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro. The order stated that the safety of the city has been jeopardized by gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. Homeland Security will now be working with the NYPD and the city’s Department of Correction to investigate gang activity at Rikers Island and beyond the jail.

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – Two MTA employees were attacked at a Bronx subway station early Tuesday morning, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened at the Eastchester–Dyre Avenue station around 12:05 a.m. A conductor woke up a sleeping man to clear a train car when the man attacked, according to authorities. The man swung a Razor scooter at the conductor, hitting him in the face, police said.
