A fire disaster has razed a section of the historical palace of the emir of Bauchi, Alh. Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu, destroying properties worth millions of naira. LEADERSHIP gathered that the inferno, despite a quick response from Bauchi firefighters, raised two blocks comprising several rooms in the palace. Burnt materials littered the vicinity. The trigger of the fire incident was not made public. However, poor management of electric appliances caused several fire outbreaks in Bauchi.

Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has mourned the death of four staff of the Gubi-Dam water treatment plant who died on a routine cleaning of the reservoir. The four staff members who died include a father and his son, a groom-to-be and a colleague. They died while attempting to fish in the reservoir. Reacting to their death, Governor Mohammed yesterday ordered an immediate investigation into the circumstances which led to the death of the workers.

Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has approved the appointment of the emir of Jama’are, Alhaji Nuhu Wabi, as the 2025 Amirul Hajj, leading Muslim Pilgrims to this year’s Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A fatal road accident involved two DAF model trucks, on Sunday, in Magama Gumau Town, Bauchi State, has claimed one life of Usman Magaji, a 23-year-old, while two others were injured. LEADERSHIP learned that one of the trucks, which was loaded with sand and carrying four occupants, collided with the stationary truck, which had broken down on the road. A man identified as Peter has been killed by mobs in Lushi, a community on the outskirts of the Bauchi metropolis, for allegedly stealing a dog. LEADERSHIP reports that Peter’s accomplice, Dokagk Danlami, 38, was matched and beaten to a coma. He was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) for treatment. Confirming the incident on Thursday, the Spokesperson of Bauchi Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said Danladi sustained wounds on his head.
