Two years to 2027 general election, 11 serving senators have joined the race for the governorship seats in seven states. The states are Bauchi, Borno, Nasarawa, Ogun, Oyo, Rivers and Yobe. Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has rejected the option of self-defence by Benue citizens as a solution to the incessant killings going on in the state. The governor advocated for community policing as a more viable means of securing the state than resorting to self-help measures. This comes as the Benue State House of Assembly has also apologised to the state’s citizens for failing to protect them from attacks.
